Meet MARIA ROSA
Maria Rosa is disciplined – with her house chores, her role as a grandmother and mother, and her health. Self-breast exam recommendations were dutifully followed every month. She had never missed her annual mammogram until the coronavirus pandemic. Being cautious, Maria Rosa skipped her yearly check-up last year to avoid unnecessary exposure to the virus.
However, a strange lump in her breast would force Maria Rosa out of isolation. Her brother had passed away from cancer. She did not want to wait for the lump to grow (whatever it was). Medical examinations would unfortunately reveal a positive cancer diagnosis. It was breast cancer.
After surgery to remove the lump in her breast, Maria Rosa’s journey would continue at the DHR Health Advanced Care Center.
“Thanks to the Foundation, I started radiation therapy almost immediately,” says Maria Rosa. “I will be forever grateful!”
Eager to give back, Maria Rosa wants to share her story with other women. She also wants to help the Renaissance Cancer Foundation in any way she can.
