Maria led an independent life as laboratory assistant at a university in one of the largest cities in the world: Mexico City. She finally retired after 30 years of hard work. It was then that she left Mexican capital to move with her sons living in the Rio Grande Valley.
For six years, Maria has enjoyed Valley life with her son Noe and grandchildren. Life was perfect for Maria… until three months ago. Dizziness and other more serious symptoms led her to seek medical care. Tests revealed endometrial cancer.
Her oncologic journey begins at the
DHR Health Advanced Care Center. Treatment will start with chemotherapy. Then, she will undergo 25 sessions of radiation. Although nervous, she is very comfortable and trusting of the medical staff. “Everyone makes me feel like I am the only patient in the building,” says Maria.
Financial assistance from our Foundation will help cover some of the costs of treatment. “I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” expresses Maria. “I am very grateful for everyone that donates to help people like me worry less about whether we can afford the treatment we need to heal.”
We wish Maria a full recovery to get back to enjoying retirement and good times with family!
