Meet JUANA
Juana is as active now as she was before her cancer diagnosis. She still cleans homes for a living almost every day. On her days off from cleaning, she will sell candy apples with chamoy. As head of household of her two young daughters, Juana has always made sure her family is taken care of.
Family is everything to Juana. She kept her cancer diagnosis a secret from them until a few days before her mastectomy. Surgery was held during the holidays. It was the first time Juana ever needed a break. Although Juana was anxious to get out of bed, her daughters assured her health was their best Christmas gift.
“Our health is something we can easily take for granted,” says Juana. Since her cancer diagnosis, Juana eats healthier and exercises regularly. Hypertension and high cholesterol are now a thing of the past. “I need to be as healthy as possible to fight this cancer,” expresses Juana.
Twenty-five sessions of radiation await Juana. Her oncologic treatment is led by Dr. Lee C. Drinkard at the DHR Health Advanced Care Center. Juana has received financial assistance from the Renaissance Cancer Foundation to pay for treatment.
“I want to thank people that donate to the Foundation,” says Juana. “They are helping a complete stranger, and that says so much about the compassion in their hearts.”
With her faith in God unmoved, Juana prays for healing and for all that have donated towards our mission. She has expressed her desire to help other patients through our Foundation – either by volunteering her time during a fundraiser or selling her delicious chamoy candy apples. We appreciate her joyful disposition, and her giving spirit!
