Guadalupe is an agriculture field worker. He has worked harvesting and inspecting crops by hand for many years. Always active, Guadalupe was working at the onion fields in La Grulla just last March.
A lot has changed for Guadalupe since his last time in the fields. A sudden pain in his lower back scared him. Several visits to different doctors revealed inconclusive results… Until he visited Dr. Juan Padilla Maiz. Dr. Juan Padilla Maiz is a board certified neurosurgeon with more than 20 years of experience at
DHR Health.
Metastatic lung cancer is his diagnosis. “All I need to know is when I can get back to work,” chuckles Guadalupe. He craves the sun on his back, the air filling his lungs, and the satisfaction of a hard day’s work. His family keeps him going. His wife, their eight children, 30 grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren are many big reasons to beat cancer.
“Without help from the Foundation, I don’t know how I could afford to pay for my treatment,” shares Guadalupe. He added, “Thank you all at the Foundation for one less thing to worry about.” Guadalupe has started oncologic treatment at the DHR Health Advanced Care Center.
We admire Guadalupe’s love for life and finding purpose in his work. In time, we hope to know he back in the fields doing what he loves best.
